Post-Less Distraction
To provide enough space for the arthroscopic tools to be used between the ball and joint of the hip, it is necessary to distract the joint or pull the femoral head out of the acetabulum slightly.
There are risks associated with traditional distraction techniques that utilize a post to prevent a patient from sliding off the table during surgery. We can mitigate these risks by using a modern post-less distraction device. Dr. Muldoon discusses his experience and how this new technology improves safety and outcomes in the video below.
