PAO Now Being Performed as an Outpatient Procedure
This is a video from our first outpatient periacetabular osteotomy, or PAO, performed in February of 2019. She used Tylenol only for her minimal post-operative pain. Traditionally, a PAO patient might expect a hospital stay of a few days. But advances in recovery technology and procedures now permit PAO procedures to be performed safely, comfortably and conveniently, while allowing the patient to return home the same day as their surgery. All of our PAO patients are now planned as outpatient procedures. In addition, we have been implementing a "Bikini incision" to minimize the appearance of post-surgical scar.
What are Patients Saying?
“
As a Registered Nurse, I have seen the good, the bad, and the ugly in medicine, especially when it comes to patient care. Dr. Santore ranks in the top 1% of all MDs that I have ever dealt with.

I had two periacetabular osteotomies done (one on each hip) with Dr. Santore nearly two years ago after 7 prior hip surgeries with other doctors. I am now 28 years old, and finally able to start living a normal life.
